What will we teach you?

The bachelor's study of philosophy focuses on the history of the European philosophical tradition from its Greek beginnings to the present, particularly with regard to the philosophy of human practice (ethics, philosophical anthropology, philosophy of education and political thought). The aim of the study is a thorough mastery of the main currents, directions and issues of the European thought tradition as well as the cultivation of one's own thinking. In the combined study, literary-oriented subjects are omitted and theoretical knowledge in the field of professional translation and practical presentation skills is not required. You will receive intensive language and professional training through language exercises and correspondence.

What will you become?

You can work in the workplaces of regional, state and European administration or private and non-profit (national and supranational) institutions dealing with education, training, science, politics or culture in general, such as in education or the media. The most capable graduates continue their follow-up studies at universities to later be employed as teachers at secondary schools, or as teachers at universities or researchers at scientific workplaces.

You will be equipped with practical knowledge of the language, life and institutions of German-speaking countries. Therefore, you can gain employment both in the domestic business spheres, focused on your activities in the relevant language areas, and in foreign institutions. You will also find employment opportunities in publishing houses, editorial offices, commercial companies, state administration, cultural foundations, the media, in the private sector and wherever language-skilled workers, equipped with professional knowledge, will be needed.
